A Third Blue Ribbon!
Blessed Sacrament School in Fort Mitchell, Kentucky was awarded its third National Blue Ribbon as an exemplary high performing school. Previous Blue Ribbon Awards were received in 1994 and 2007. Blessed Sacrament School is one of 50 private schools in the nation to receive the Blue Ribbon. To qualify for the National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence Award, Blessed Sacrament School needed standardized test scores in the top 15% in the nation. Programs and curriculum supporting our mission were also required.
Arne Duncan, Department of Education Secretary, congratulated all 2015 award winners. "This honor recognizes your students' accomplishments and the hard work and dedication that went into their success," Duncan said in a video message to the awardees. "Your journey has taught you collaboration, intentional instruction, and strong relationships in school and with your community. You represent excellence—in vision, in implementation, and in results—and we want to learn as much as we can from you."
Mrs. Maureen Hannon, principal, has led the school for thirteen years. This is the second Blue Ribbon under her leadership. “My goal has been to give the students of Blessed Sacrament a faith-filled, academically excellent education. I have an exceptional faculty and staff who are life-long learners concerned with giving our students what they need to be successful.” A recognition ceremony will be held in Washington D.C. November 9-10.
